Cardinals AAA Farm Team in the International League) against the Toronto Maple

Leafs - His friendship & visit w/ Blue Jays Manager Bobby Mattick - His playing days

w/ the Cardinals "Gas House Gang" & the 1930 team, his 1st year when 11 Players

including himself Hit .300 from .394 to .304 - Catching spit ball pitcher Burleigh

Grimes & "Elbow Bending" Grover Cleveland Alexander etc, etc

He spent 17 seasons in the Major Leagues w/ 5 different teams compiling a .265

Career Batting Average & Hitting .301 in 1936 w/ 564 Plate Appearances - Was

named Team Captain of the NY Giants - Played on 2 World Series Championship

Teams & 4 NL Pennant Teams - Was voted onto 2 All-Star Teams - An excellent

catcher & Carl Hubbell's favourite - He had a high % throwing out base stealers

& led the NL twice at 69% & 64% - & - a Career 51%

Sadly, he passed away within 2 Months after this article at the age of 78
